Internal Medicine/Cardiology

Severe Covid-19 pneumonia can lead to structural and haemodynamic lung changes. Through training-based rehabilitation, significant improvements in maximum oxygen uptake and cardiopulmonary performance can be achieved.

You will be assigned to the Internal Medicine/Cardiology treatment module if at least two of the following criteria are met:

  • Severe course of Covid-19 disease
  • Residual cardiopulmonary symptoms (e.g. congestive heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, etc.)
  • Basic cardiac disease
  • Cardiac risk factor profile

Severe COVID-19 pneumonia can lead to lung changes that can be improved by exercise-based rehabilitation. Patients with underlying cardiac diseases or a cardiac risk factor profile can also benefit from follow-up COVID-19 treatment, as they too often experience a severe course of COVID-19 disease. Covid-19 disease, in turn, often leads to a worsening of existing cardiac problems.

Orthopaedics

After an inpatient stay, patients often suffer from musculoskeletal, generalised weakness as well as restrictions in mobility and everyday life. After a severe COVID-19 illness it is therefore likely that orthopaedic co-care will also be necessary. This is intended to help you regain your independence and slowly return to your everyday life and work.

You will be assigned to the orthopaedic treatment module if at least two of the following criteria are met:

  • Musculoskeletal complaints and restrictions in the activities of daily life
  • Weakened general condition
  • Breathing pump weakening

Therapeutic elements in this module are targeted respiratory therapy including mobilisation of adjacent regions such as the cervical and thoracic spine, medical training therapy to increase cardiopulmonary endurance and improvement of trunk stability and strength of the upper and lower extremities, manual therapy / osteopathy to improve trunk mobility as well as pain therapy, acupuncture, shock wave and cryotherapy.

  • Neurological deficit with restriction of activities of daily living (according to the Barthel index) including neuropsychological deficits
  • Cognitive disorder with restricted participation
  • Breathing pump weakening

Therapeutic elements of this module are therapy groups and individual therapy, remedies for mobilisation in order to strengthen you again for coping with everyday life, logopaedics for swallowing disorders and tracheotomy and pharmacological support according to somatic neurological indication.

They are assigned to the psychosomatic treatment module under the following indications:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Stress disorders
  • Further mental illnesses
